New Members

All applicants for membership of Hawkesbury Dog Agility Club must attend the introduction night held on the first Wednesday of every month (excluding January and December). Stage 1 – Introduction Talk Prospective new members gather together without their dogs. They will listen to a talk which outlines training procedures, ground rules and club expectations. Stage 2 – Tour of Training Classes  Prospective new members are taken on a tour of the classes that are training, finishing with Intro Class so the prospective new members get a glimpse of what is taught. During the tour, the difference between each class, the difference between agility and jumping and the various obstacles involved will be explained.  Stage 3 – Formalise Membership Before completing the final process to formalise each person’s membership the Duty Officer covers a few final important pieces of information then, if agility is still for them and their dog, prospective members can process their membership. * The Yellow Ribbon Signal: - If a dog is wearing a yellow ribbon, it means you must maintain a 3 lead length distance from that dog (approx 4m). Ribbons are to be worn by dogs that are - nervous, timid, recovering from surgery, or recovering from a bad experience.  It does not necessarily indicate that the dog has an aggressive nature.

Requirements

Dogs must:

Be at least 9 months of age (or 12 months for larger breeds).

Have proof of current vaccination. Have basic obedience training and come when called. Be kept on a leash and under the control at all times (unless        under the supervision of an instructor). Wear a flat collar with an appropriate lead. Be in good health. Wear a Yellow Ribbon* if they require space. Be confined in a car or crate during course            construction and course walking. Handlers must: Bring a toy and/or treats as a reward for achievements. Wear enclosed footwear. Thongs, sandals and bare feet are not permitted. Be respectful of dogs wearing a Yellow Ribbon*. Clean up after your dog. Not smoke while at the club grounds.  Please Note: All children (12 years and younger) are required to be under adult            supervision at all times. No Bitch in season is allowed to attend training.
